Innovating the Future: Critical Perspectives in
Science & Technology

2010 ST Global Call for Abstracts

AAAS and the student organizing committee for the 10th Annual
Conference of Science & Technology in Society are pleased to join
forces with National Academies' Annual Forum for Graduate Students in
Science, Technology, and Health Policy. The newly merged conference
has been extended to 2 1/2 days, and will continue to provide a
professional and interactive venue for all graduate students from
Science & Technology Policy (STP), Science & Technology Studies (STS),
and related fields including, but not limited to, health, energy and
environment, space, information and communications, innovation,
education, and ethical, legal and social implications of science and
technology.

Every year, prominent figures from both STP and STS deliver keynote
addresses. In addition to presenting papers and receiving constructive
feedback on their research, students will have the opportunity to
build national and international networks with each other and
prominent scholars and professionals. As an added benefit to attendees
and participants, a portion of the conference will be dedicated to
career development, with representatives of government and
non-government employers. In addition, there will be a poster session
during the Friday night reception. Although not required, we
encourage students to prepare a poster to present at the reception or
to complement their formal presentation.

This year's conference will feature multiple tracks and
concentrations, including, but not limited to:

* Ethical, Legal, and Social Dimensions of Science and Technology
* Communicating Science to Policymakers and the Public
* Education and Training for the S&T Workforce
* The Role of S&T in Innovation, Economic Development, Job
Creation, and Entrepreneurship
* Priorities in STS: Energy, Health Care Quality, Green
Technology, Climate Change
* The Global Perspective on Science, Technology, and Culture

We are now accepting abstracts of up to 250 words for the conference
which will run 2 1/2 days from Friday April 9th in the afternoon
through 1pm on Sunday April 11th. In your abstract, please indicate
if you plan on preparing a presentation, poster, or both.

Please visit our website: http://www.stglobal.org/

The CFP, which is attached, can also be viewed on our website at
http://www.stglobal.org/CFP/CFP2010.pdf.

Questions about the conference can be sent to: contact AT stglobal.org

Abstracts are due on 17 January 2009 and should be approximately 250
words. If you would like to see previous, successful abstracts, they
can be viewed at: http://www.stglobal.org/abstractsamples.html

This conference is a great opportunity to network with your peers as
well as luminaries in the field, and to present your research in front
of a critical yet supportive audience. I look forward to reading your
abstracts.

Best regards,
