Le Projet ANR Profutur, « Savoirs et techniques d’anticipation, de prévision et de maîtrise du futur. 18^e et 19^e siècles », lance un appel à candidature pour :

Une bourse post-doctorale d’un an, pour la période du 1^er sept. 2011 au 31 août 2012

Les candidats doivent être titulaires d’un doctorat en histoire ou en histoire des sciences et des techniques, au 1er septembre 2011. Le projet de recherche proposé par la(le) candidat(e) devra concerner directement l’histoire de l’anticipation, de la prédiction, de la prévision, de la planification, ou de tout autre savoir ou technique prenant pour objet le futur, aux 18e et/ou 19e siècles. Les projets concernant d’autres périodes historiques ne seront pas considérés. Les thématiques peuvent concerner toutes les aires géographiques et culturelles, et tous les domaines de la vie en société. Citons à titre indicatif l’histoire de l’intendance et de la logistique, de l’assurance et des marchés financiers, de la statistique et de la comptabilité, de la stratégie et des pratiques militaires, de la santé publique, de la gestion des ressources naturelles. Le projet doit concerner directement l’histoire des savoirs et des outils scientifiques et techniques développés afin de prévoir et d’organiser le futur.

Le projet Profutur est financé par l’Agence Nationale pour la Recherche et hébergé par le Centre de Recherches Historiques (EHESS-CNRS, Paris) et l’Institut d’Histoire Moderne et Contemporaine (ENS-CNRS, Paris).

L’appel est ouvert aux candidats de toute nationalité. Le projet peut être rédigé en français ou en anglais.

Les candidats sont invités à soumettre un dossier comprenant un CV (incluant une liste des publications), un projet de recherche (de 750 mots max.) et un article ou chapitre de livre (ou de thèse).

The Profutur project “Anticipatory knowledge and technologies, 18^th and 19^th Century” invites suitable candidates to apply for

One postdoctoral fellowship for one year

starting September 1, 2011.

Candidates must hold a doctorate in history, history of science and technology, environmental history, economic history, or related fields, at the time the position begins. Research projects should address the history of anticipation, prediction, forecasting, planning, or other future related knowledge and techniques in the 18th and 19th century. Projects may concern any geographical area and any domain of human activity. Possible domains include history of food-supply and logistics, history of insurance or stock markets, history of planning and project-making, history of economic calculations, statistics and accounting, history of strategic thinking and military practices, history of public health, history of resource management. The focus of the project however should be on the technical and scientific tools and methods developed in order to predict and organize the future.

The Profutur project is funded by the Agence nationale de la Recherche and co-hosted by the Centre de recherches historiques (EHESS-CNRS, Paris) and the Institut d’histoire moderne et contemporaine (ENS-CNRS, Paris). The Postdoctoral fellowship will be located at the Centre de recherches historiques in Paris.

Candidates of all nationalities are welcomed to apply. The project language is French or English. Candidates are requested to submit a curriculum vitae (including a list of publications), a research proposal on a topic related to the project (750 words maximum), and one sample of writing (article or book chapter).
