Postdoctoral Fellowships : Researcher with experience in policy analysis, qualitative sociology and science studies

Regulating research on Human Stem Cells in North America/Europe

Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) project:  Des standards aux programmes concertés de l’action collective: le processus de standardisation des usages médicaux des cellules humaines

We are a multidisciplinary team of medical anthropologists and sociologists of science looking for a research assistant to support our study on the public policy of stem cell research in North America in contrast to European frame. The idea is to follow the gradual acquisition of commercial values related to these biological objects.

The research assistant will be responsible :
1. to research the ‘genealogy’ of institutional frameworks and regulations addressing human stem cell research, including parliamentary debates, and controversial frames surrounding stem cells issues in terms of cultural (national, disciplinary etc.) specificities.
2. To conduct some interviews in the canadian context of developing stem cells

The ideal candidate:
•    could work full-time for the period of september 2013–February 2014
•    has excellent analytical skills of sociological documents and conducting interviews in French and English
•    Biotechnological knowledge or background
•    Organizational skills and ability to produce scientific reports

Start date: as soon as possible (september at the latest)
Salary: 15 000$ (modulation based on experience) + travel costs

The research assistant will be based in Sciences Po Grenoble or/and Paris and have to be available for traveling in order to conduct interviews with canadian stakeholders.

Research Assistant with experience in policy analysis, qualitative sociology and science studies

Regulating research on Parkinson Studies

We are a multidisciplinary team of medical anthropologists and sociologists of science looking for a research assistant to support our study on the public policy of stem cell research in North America in contrast to European frame. The research assistant will be responsible :

1. to produce a state of art of scientific research on Parkinson in France (including institutional frameworks), their controversies (legal and scientific) and expectations surrounding stem cells issues.
2. To conduct some interviews with scientists from Grenoble site (Clinatec, hospital, patient organization ...)

The ideal candidate:
•    could work full-time for the period of July 2013/October 2013 or September/December 2013 (possible extension)
•    has excellent analytical skills of sociological documents and conducting interviews in French and English
•    Biotechnological knowledge or background
•    Organizational skills and ability to produce scientific reports

Start date: as soon as possible (July or september at the latest)
Salary: 6 000$ (modulation based on experience) + possible travel costs

The research assistant will be based in Sciences Po Grenoble and/or Paris + possible travel costs in France.
